Dton Naam is a phrase in the Thai language that describes the source of a stream or the beginning, the freshest, purest water, like the water at the top of a mountain spilling over providing nourishment to the valley below. There is not an exact translation in English but “source of water” is the closest. The word is a beautiful analogy of our hope to see Christ pour His living, pure, eternal life into the adults, teens and children involved in prostitution in Thailand. We believe there is healing and freedom available to all trapped in sexual bondage, and we are actively involved in stopping human trafficking, prostitution and sexual exploitation of all persons. As we offer a way out, we believe heart and lifestyle changes are possible. Jesus said, “…If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:37-38
Through love and healthy relating, we offer counseling, education, jobs, job training, discipleship, safety and more to these young men and women that generally have never been given an opportunity to rise up or overcome their desperate situations. At this time, DtonNaam is focusing on building a program for men since there are four non-profits in Bangkok available to helping women. Current statistics reveal about 20,000 Thai men prostitute themselves daily. There are at least 10,000 “ladyboy” working in the Bangkok sex industry and we’ve seen boys as young as eight years of age working the streets. HIV is rising. These men need someone to care. They need someone who can see their true value and offer hope.
Perpetual Currents
Have washed them to shore
Thousands of heartaches
Probably more
Chosen for what can be offered the Taker
Pryed open
Hearts ripped out
Discarded like paper
Their cries from the land bring the answer of
ONE
From the purest of waters….the flood of the Son
He quenches with tears all His sons and His daughters
Bathes them in pure love
And has beauty to offer
He assigns them their value beyond highest price
HIS OWN LIFE
To refresh every heart He has rescued from Night
In Him, they are treasure
His pearls of great price
He sees all they are and all they can be
For He is their Maker and He makes ALL lovely
